THE PURPOSE OF FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
IT'S GREAT TO BE THE PEOPLE OF GOD!
-to obey the GREAT COMMANDMENT
-to follow the GREAT COMMISSION
Faith Lutheran Church has been called into being by the living Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gives us our purpose…we don’t create that on our own.
THE GREAT COMMANDMENT:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40
The Great Commandment gives us two purposes:
1. “Love God with all your heart.”
Worship--to celebrate God’s presence among us.
2. “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Ministry--to demonstrate God’s love for all people.
THE GREAT COMMISSION:
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
The Great Commission gives us two purposes:
1. “Go…make disciples…baptize.”
Evangelism--to invite others into our fellowship
and show the hospitality of God’s people.
2. “Teach them to obey.”
Discipleship--to educate and train all people in God’s Word.
